Vision of Faith

Road trips for me are very nerve-racking a lot of the time because of the fear of getting lost. I do not know how to read a map, so I rely on landmarks and GPS to guide my way. It is such a victory for me to have someone in the car with me who can get us to where we need to be without getting lost. Having that help puts me at peace because I am so aware of my own "directional weakness" and I rely on that other person to lead the way.
The story of Aaron the Levite and his brother Moses is a story of God's faithfulness. It shows how God is aware of our weaknesses, how He sends us the help we need, and most importantly it's a story about great faith.
Moses and God had a conversation one day in which God told Moses he needed to go to Egypt and bring the Israelites out of their bondage. Moses was not too thrilled with this commission and begins to tell God of his weaknesses and how he believes he is not the man for the job. God says to Moses during all his so-called logical reasoning "What about your brother Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well. He is already on his way to meet you and his heart will be glad when he sees you. You shall speak to him and put words in his mouth. I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do. He will speak to the people for you, and it will be as if he were your mouth and as if you were God to him. But take this staff in your hands so you can perform miraculous signs with it."
Moses starts then to head off with his family to Egypt to do the will of God. Then God speaks to Aaron “Go into the desert to meet Moses.” When the two brothers eventually did meet up with one another Moses told Aaron everything God had told and shown him. From that moment on the two of them left and started doing what God had asked each of them to do.
Remember that Moses and Aaron had been separated since the time Moses was three months old. Perhaps they knew they each had a brother and maybe even knew who the other one was, but they did not grow up together in the same home. Then God tells Moses that his brother is being sent to help him- the brother that he didn’t grow up with! The words that God told Aaron were “Go into the desert to meet Moses” nothing more and nothing less- just go meet Moses. God did not go into any detail with Aaron about his future mission or even why he was going to meet with Moses. The amazing thing is that Aaron just did what God had told him to do- no questions asked. Upon arriving and meeting his brother he listened to all that Moses told him and gave up his own life to do God’s work along with Moses. What faith Aaron had!!
It took an enormous amount of faith to do what Aaron did. How he listened and obeyed the voice of God being spoken through his brother is remarkable. Imagine being separated your whole life then in an instant you are suddenly pushed together in unity to help each other and do God's work. Aaron obeyed the voice of God, took a leap of faith, and went into the desert to meet his brother. Moses took a leap of faith by obeying God's instructions and being willing to leave everything to do God's work. Imagine the conversation the two of them must have had as Moses was telling Aaron all that God had told him and then telling him that they were to go to Egypt. Truly both must have had a huge amount of faith. The vision God gave Moses was then passed to Aaron and Aaron walked fully in that vision. They had some details of what would take place but not all of it. They knew what they had to do, and they walked in faith one step at a time- with each other.
I admire the faith of both men for what they took on together and separately. I also admire the faith of Aaron to go to his brother and agree to walk in the vision that God had given to his brother. God reunited Moses and Aaron in their lost brotherhood- how great is our God!
Whatever vision God has given you, really take hold of it and fully walk in it. It may not be what you expected to do in life but know God's vision is always better than our own. Walk by faith in whatever God has shown and told you even if you don't know all the details. Know that God's vision has you and your family's best interest at heart. Take each step of faith and watch the vision become a reality. Remember you are never alone because of God's faithfulness to each of us and God will send others along to help you fulfill the vision He has given you.
