Un-Done

The saying “When it rains it pours” is a statement many of us are familiar with and have probably used before. There seems to be times in life where we feel completely “un-done.” Times when we feel completely broken and that everything is being stripped from us. We look at our situation and think, “What else is going to happen- how much more can I take?” In those moments we truly are at a place in our lives where the only one we can rely on to help us is God. However, while moments are difficult to go through, God will allow them to bring us completely to Him. It’s in those moments that His mercy and grace is poured out to us.

There have times when I have been completely “un-done”in my life. Times where I asked, “What do you want from me God- how much more do you think I can handle?” Times of shear desperation and heartfelt pleas for answers and help. God then in His love, ended up showing more of Himself to me in my personal walk with Him. Bringing me to the point of having no answers for anything, needing all of Him, because He is the only one who can complete me. I also realized I couldn’t change any one or anything in that of myself. I learned about who I really was inside- my true character. It’s not easy to look at yourself in the mirror, but we all must do it. I was tested to see who I would rely on in those moments. Would I look to others or would I go to the Lord? Would I be fully aware of my relationship with the lord, and become so dependent on him for every detail of my life? To hunger and thirst for more of Him in every area of my life? Not only for all my situations to be resolved, but also cling to Him just for who He is. To love and trust Him with all my life even the stormy times? It’s easy to praise and worship the Lord when everything is going well for us, but how about when were un-done? What is our true character then? Those times of being completely un-done will be used for the good in our lives from the Lord if we will allow it. The question is “Are we going to sit around and complain, moan and groan about our problems or are we going to run to the Lord for help?” In Deuteronomy 8:1-6 we read about God’s gracious dealing with the Israelite's. This passage also speaks to us today. “And you shall remember all the way which the lord your God has led you in the wilderness these forty years, that he might humble you, testing you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. And He humbled you and let you be hungry and fed you with manna which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that He might make you understand that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord. Your clothing did not wear out on you, nor did your foot swell these forty years. Thus, you are to know in your heart that the Lord your God was disciplining you just as a man disciplines his son, therefore you shall keep the commandments of the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and to fear Him.” Through those un-done times in my life I was being tested- tested of my heart and true character towards God and His word. Did I struggle? Yes, I did, however, I learned above everything, that more of God is what I wanted and needed, because He is the anchor and cornerstone for everything in my life. Being completely un-done in life is a shock at first to each of us. Instead of falling into a pit of depression we need to really seek out the Lord and find out what He wants to teach us through it. When it does come to an end, we need to be thankful for it because hopefully we have learned a lot about ourselves and the Lord. Those times of being completely un-done in my life were not easy to understand, but I was strengthened and became even more dependent upon God. To have gone through those times were really a gift even though there was a lot of pain and soul searching. God showed me He is my Comforter, friend, and my strength, and for that I am grateful. When you feel completely un-done know that God is with you and will show up for you. He is standing there outstretching His hand of love and goodness to you and will rebuild you. Learn not only to praise and worship Him in the good times, but to also love and worship Him in the storms because He will never leave you. In the storm, our true character is brought forth. Will we run to Him with all our we are or will run the other way? Through personal experience I urge you to run to Him even when your completely un-done and watch what He will do for you.
Take Away:
Are you feeling un-done right now?
That things are just a mess and your DONE?
Ask God to show you areas even in the midst of this trial how He is helping you? Also remember how He has helped you in the past and know He will get you through this as well.
