Turn Back

Have you ever heard the saying “There are no atheists in a fox-hole?” The message is simple in that sooner or later we all will get to the point where we cry out to God for help in our desperate situation. How many though after getting that help never praise God for what He did? How many cry out for help –get what they want and walk away?

The story of the Ten lepers found in Luke 17:11-19 is similar to this very thing. The story is “And it came about while He was on the way to Jerusalem, that He was passing between Samaria and Galilee. And as He entered a certain village, ten leperous men who stood at a distance met Him; and they raised their voices saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”

And when He saw them, He said to them, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” And it came about that as they were going, they were cleansed. Now one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice, and he fell on his face at His feet, giving thanks to Him. And he was a Samaritan. And Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine where are they? Was no one found who turned back to give glory to God, except this foreigner?” And He said to him, “Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well.”

You see these men were in a desperate situation and they knew Jesus could heal them. They cried out to Him for help and were healed. The amazing thing is that they also went on faith in that they had to act before they were cleansed. After this amazing event only one man came back to glorify Jesus for His healing, and his soul was made well also.

Jesus desperately loves each of us and wants to meet our every need. He though wants us to praise, honor and glorify Him in everything because He is everything.

Psalms 34:1-8 tells us this: “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear it and rejoice. O magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt His name together. I sought the Lord and He answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed. This poor man cried and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and rescues them.”

The next time you cry out for your Master to rescue you – know that He will. Also, though remember you must continually let praise and worship be on your lips. Do not get what you wanted, then walk away and do your own thing so to speak. Run to Him, fall on your face before Him glorifying Him not just for what he did for you – but for who He is. Turn back the blessing that He gave you into praise and adoration for your Master.

Gift of Love

I heard a line in a Christmas movie once where a woman told a man that the first gift ever given was a child- meaning Jesus being born. It was a great movie, and that line is one that I will never for
