Have you ever been invited to a bonfire party? If you have then
you know how big the fire can get. Whoever oversaw the party
perhaps was also in charge of collecting all the wood for it.
Getting enough wood probably took days and perhaps the invited guests
were asked to also bring some wood also because every bit helps.
Every piece of wood keeps that fire hot and able to burn longer.
The bigger it is the more light it provides to that area and people are
drawn to be around that light.
“You are the light of the world, A town built on a hill cannot
be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowel.
Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in
the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others,
that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in
heaven” (Matthew 5:14-16).

“For God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness, made
his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the
knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ” (2
Corinthians 4:6).
Since the Lord says we are the light of the world, it makes you
think, “How big is my fire?” “Is my light shining before men and can
others see it or do I need some more “wood” to really set that fire ablaze?”
What About You?
1. How can you keep your fire from burning out?
2. What will you do to shine God’s love to others?
