The Fire Within

Have you ever been invited to a bonfire party? If you have then you know how big the fire can get. Whoever oversaw the party was also in charge of collecting all the wood for it. Getting enough wood probably took days and perhaps the invited guests were asked to also bring some wood also, because every bit helps. Every piece of wood keeps that fire hot and able to burn longer. The bigger it is the more light it provides to that area and people are drawn to be around that light.

Matthew 5:14-16 “Ye are the light of the world, A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick: and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

2 Corinthians 4:6 “For God who commanded the light to shine out of darkness hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

Since the Lord says we are the light of the world-it makes you think, “How big is my fire?” “Is my light shining before men- can others see it, or do I need some more “Wood” to really set that fire a blaze?”

Take Away For The Week:

Tonight we read this and it was a great challenge for all of us. We definitely will have those days when it seems like we are not shining too bright for Jesus, but hopefully overall we are reflecting Him.

What are the areas where we know we can work on in regards to "Letting our light shine?"

We are never going to be perfect on this earth, however hopefully people recognize we are Christians.......if not allow God to have full control over every area in your life. When that happens your heart will change and so will your actions!!!

Gift of Love

I heard a line in a Christmas movie once where a woman told a man that the first gift ever given was a child- meaning Jesus being born. It was a great movie, and that line is one that I will never for
