Stain Free

Have you ever been doing laundry and noticed stains on the clothing? You think, “Oh, great, how am I going to get these out?” You then spray all the best stain removers on the items and wait with anticipation to see if the stains come out. Sometimes they don't come out and you end up throwing away that piece of clothing because it is ruined. Other times, after a few more washings the stain is gone and you get to keep the item of clothing.

Thankfully our relationship with the Lord is not like our laundry. When we have a “stain” we are able to repent and be forgiven. It doesn’t matter how big or deep the stain is, we are not tossed into the trash because we are no longer any good. The Lord washed away the “stain” right at the moment we repent. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

We do not have to sit around and wait with anticipation to be freed from our “stains.” Our “stains” are removed right at that moment- it's automatic. Unfortunately, our laundry is not like that, but thank God, our lives can be. Nothing is too difficult or too set that it can’t be removed.
