Seek And Find

My kids love to play the game hide and seek. They will play in the house as well as outside. They do the usual counting to 20 or so and then they start to look. My youngest can get frustrated soon after the game begins. He will look in a few places and then he starts asking me for help. He will say “Mommy, I can’t find them will you help me?” I usually know where they are hiding, but I’m forbidden to tell! I will tell my youngest though “Keep looking – you’ll find them.” Sometimes I will try to help him by offering a checklist to see if he has looked there or not.
Deuteronomy 4:29 says “But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find if you seek him with all your heart and soul."
Jeremiah 29:13 says “You will seek me and find me when your seek me with all your heart.”
When the person hiding in the game of hide and seek is finally found there is a lot of shouting and laughing. The person who found them is so happy- happy that their efforts paid off and the game usually continues on.
God though is not hiding from us; He’s always in the same place. We are just to seek Him daily knowing He we will answer. By continually seeking Him is how we gain wisdom, knowledge, and learn of His plans for us. We can’t know of His love, plans, desires for us unless we seek Him with all of our heart. Doing this ensures us that He will be found.
