Seasons

As I look out my window and see the sun shining on the trees consumed by ice, I am captivated by the beauty of something so simple. Soon the trees will bud and there will be signs of life all around us, and this season will be over. Out with the cold and freezing conditions. We will be out in the hot warm sun soon, enjoying the day for as long as we can and glad to say goodbye to the cold.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, There is an appointed time for everything, and there is a time for every event under the sun. A time to give birth, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to uproot what is planted, a time to kill and a time to heal; a time to tear down and a time to build up, a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance. A time to throw stones, and a time to gather stones. A time to embrace, and a time to shun embracing. A time to search, and a time to give up as lost. A time to keep, and a time to throw away. A time to tear apart, and a time to speak. A time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.”

Our lives are formed by the seasons we go through at different periods of time. And although we prefer certain seasons to another, know you must go through that season for a reason. The Lord will keep you in the palm of His hand, and understand that season helps prepare you for the next one to come. When you’re in that season that seems cold and unending to you, don’t give up.

Like those beautiful ice-capped trees with no outward signs of life, you, like those trees, are very much alive. You will blossom and be even more beautiful than the last season. Take the season as it comes and learn all you can.
