Looking Ahead

If you have ever watched a relay race, it can teach you a lot. When the runners first start out, they are all in position looking ahead. The signal is given and they are off. They are very focused and looking ahead, not looking behind them.

They keep their focus on where they have to go. Just taking a second to look and see who is behind them could cost them time. When they do see someone passing them, I’m sure that gives them the desire to run faster. They are constantly looking ahead and that’s what matters most.

“Brethren I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before” (Philippians 3:13).

In life, we are all trying to go forward. If we are constantly reliving the past and not looking ahead we will not go very far, and it will take us longer.

We all have things in our lives that we wish we could change. We need to remember though, it is our past. We do live in Christ’s love and His forgiveness. We should learn from the past, and hopefully, we are better and stronger people from it.

It’s very difficult to go forward though if we’re always looking behind. Staying focused on what lies ahead and not giving up is what we need to do. God has plans for each of us and He will help us to go forward. He will be with us every step of the way.

  2. Do you trust Him to guide your way forward?
