"I Want- I Want"

If you were to ask me about the day each of my children were born, and how I felt that day, I could go on and on. How from the minute I knew I was pregnant how much I already loved them. My oldest now is gaining more independence, going to the movies, roller rink, bowling etc…and he always needs money. Typically he’ll will tell me right before he’s ready to leave where he needs to be, how much money he needs, and that we need to go right now. So usually he gets his way and were off, and when he is dropped off I hear “Thanks mom, pick me up at whatever time” and he’s gone. I’m reminded of how much he needed me for everything when he was little, and now he’s off. I wonder how our Lord feels about us. Jeremiah 1:5 says, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee, and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” From this verse we can see His love for us has always been and is beyond our capabilities of loving. How many times do we act like our children, just asking for what we need? If our children never talked or expressed their love for us, only coming when in need that would crush us. We love our children and want to give them everything, but to also have a close relationship with them. We are also more than willing to give above and beyond when we feel they really appreciate it and love us. The Lord feels the same way about us, even more so than we do as “Earthly parents.” He is our Father and we are His children. He wants us to have a complete and close relationship with Him. To honor and praise him, and not just seeking Him when we want or need something.

Take Away For The Week:

We need to remember we are not to view God as a genie in a bottle, someone who will give us whatever we want and when we want it. He created us to be in relationship with Him and offer ourselves to His work.

Are you one who typically only "Talks" to God when you need something? Do you forget to thank Him? This week take a inner look at your relationship with God and ask yourself "Does He know I love Him?" Does He feel that I am so thankful for all He does?" Is there some room to make some changes in my walk with Him?"

Gift of Love

I heard a line in a Christmas movie once where a woman told a man that the first gift ever given was a child- meaning Jesus being born. It was a great movie, and that line is one that I will never for
