If you have children you probably, like me, have experienced moments when you have called them and they didn’t answer. What gets so frustrating is that you know they hear you, but they are busy with what they’re doing and don’t answer. Perhaps they know why you’re calling them. They don’t answer because they don’t want to do what you’re going to ask of them.
Our relationship with the Lord can be the same way. We can hear Him calling us, and we get too busy to answer. We think if we don’t respond He’ll quit, but He doesn’t. Maybe at certain times He just wants to have a conversation with us, and at other times He’s calling us to do something. He could be asking us to do something that we don’t want to do out of our own lack of wisdom, strength, or just desire. It would be out of our comfort level, out of our “norm.”

Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.” Matthew 11:15, “He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.” Like I tell my kids, “When I’m calling you it just might be something that we are going to do, something really fun, and you don’t even know it.”
So the next time you hear Him calling, answer Him right away because you could be “missing out.” He will never ask us to do something that we can’t complete. He will give us all the knowledge and strength that is required to get the job done.
Have you ever intentionally not listened to God because you were afraid to do what He was asking?
Is God calling you to do something today? If so, how will you respond?
