Everlasting Love

When a couple first finds out that they are going to have a child they are instantly in awe. For the mom to be she knows there is a new life inside of her even though for a while she cannot feel any movement. The way technology is now we get to see that child in the mother’s womb. Seeing that picture brings it all home for the parents to be. An instant bond of love is formed for those two expecting parents.

When the child is born it is so wonderful to actually hold, touch and snuggle this little person you have loved for so long. Nothing can ever separate the love that parents have for their children. There may be some rough times through the years but that bond of love can never be broken.

God’s love for us is even greater than that of an earthly love between a parent and child. God’s word tells us in Jeremiah 1:5 this “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you”. That is something difficult for us to comprehend but it is the truth. To realize that even before we were in our moms tummy God knew each of us! Wow!

1 John 3:1 says this “See how great a love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God and such we are.”

Now we know that God knew us before we were ever born, that we are His children and He loves us. Now just as earthly parents have an everlasting love for their children no matter what happens – what about God towards us?

Romans 8: 37-39 reassures us of His love. “But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved, for I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

God is telling us that absolutely nothing could ever make Him not love us – nothing. He is so in love with each one of us that He gave His only begotten Son for us. We really cannot comprehend that kind of love here on earth. He knows every detail about us, about our lives and most of all He loves us and believes in us! His love for us is always the same – it does not vary based on our actions.

Jeremiah 31:3 says this: “I have loved you with an everlasting love.”

You and I cannot truly understand how deeply God loves us. We tend to show love to others based on their actions or on our own moods. How selfish are we? Thankfully God does not love us how we love others. We are His children and He loves us so much more than we can imagine.

During your life here on this earth know that God in heaven – your Father loves you. Know that He is always aware of you and is constantly working on your behalf. Know that your thoughts, ideas, feelings and your life matters to God. Know that even on those days when you feel no one cares or loves you – God your Father does and He always will.

Gift of Love

I heard a line in a Christmas movie once where a woman told a man that the first gift ever given was a child- meaning Jesus being born. It was a great movie, and that line is one that I will never for
