Back At You!

How many times do we look at others and their actions and judge them? Why is it that we are we so quick to bring out others faults when perhaps we have done or are doing the same thing?

Let’s imagine you’re sitting with a person talking and judging someone you know and suddenly, the lights go out. Instantly it’s as if a movie projector turns on and on the wall, is your life playing out in front of you. Only this “movie” is bringing out not only every wrong choice you have ever made, but also every thought you have ever had cross your mind!! Imagine sitting there with your friends and your whole life is being “viewed” and when the lights come back on everyone is looking at you in disgust and unbelief.

The things that you had just gotten done judging someone else on were the same things that you yourself were guilty of. Your friends then look at you and say, “You are no better than so and so -look at what you have done!”

What a horrible thought that is! To think that our whole lives could be revealed for others to know is too much to handle. The point is, we all have made wrong choices in our lives so who are we to judge others? We also need to remember that thankfully we have God’s forgiveness when we don’t deserve it – and so does everyone else.

Matthew 7:1-5 say this “Do not judge lest you be judge. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. And why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother,” Let me take the speck out of your eye and behold the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite! First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brothers eye.”

The old saying “Back at you” is profoundly true and God’s word tells us that by how much we judge others it will come back to us.

Romans 2: 1-2 also says to us: “Therefore you are without excuse, every man of you who passes judgment, for in that you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things, and we know that the judgment of God rightly falls upon those who practice such things.”

If you really take a moment to think about it –it is a pretty scary thought to think that because of your judging others you will be judge according to how much you judge. We are by nature judgmental people – however by being God’s children we are to reflect Him and to love others.

We are not to judge others by their mistakes and choices for even we need the shedding of Christ’s blood for our sins. We would never be on our way to Heaven if He hadn’t have done that for each of us so our sins could be forgiven, and that is what we need to remember.

So, the next time your quick to judge, think of yourself. Think of the choices you have made and how much you have needed forgiveness and mercy from God. Think about that and give your love and mercy to others and not your judgment.
