Adversity

Sunday Thought :

Adversity

Often when were at our limit, we cry out to the one person who can bring change and that is our God. We ask He suddenly remove all the obstacles and annoyances that seem to be right in our way. We know He hears and answers prayers, which is why we go to Him in the first place. When were done we believe He has answered us and positive change is on the way. Suddenly there seems to erupt adversity coming in at every angle. Things have gone from bad to worse, and now were in amazement as to how all this could be happening. That child who once was so obedient has now chosen to be rebellious. The finances we were sure would always be there, have now become shaky and unsure. The marriage everyone once envied is now being tested to its core. That once healthy body has now been turned over to such a deathly disease. That friend who once claimed to be forever loyal, has now shown a side of betrayal. The career that seemed so promising has been now let go of due to downsizing. So again, we go before our God and ask “Why- why is all this happening? Didn’t He hear our cry for help- didn’t He know that the first time we came to Him we were at our limit? How does He think we can endure this or even anymore?’ Then in a moment of quietness is when God reveals to us, He is doing exactly as we had asked. He is bringing that change and yet even revival just like we prayed for. The problem though is we are not approving of how it is coming packaged. God says to us “Please remain still remembering I’m in control and know what I’m doing. For change and revival to be everlasting, I need to allow things to hit rock bottom for Me to get all the glory.” He tells even though this was not what we have liked or wanted, it will do us some good to be refined and tested during this time. He tells us if we would just keep our focus on Him and allow change and revival to come even through us there would be one more miracle added to the pile. He tells us He is aware of the hurt and pain we are going through, and that He will be the one who will safely see us through and its only temporary. He reminds us also He expects us in the adversity to trust Him and let Him do His perfect will. To realize even though adversity has broken out it had to be this way, and in the end, will prove to have been a good thing. A good thing in that this was the only way to ensure change and revival would begin and in the end we would all win. So, when adversity comes knocking go ahead and answer the door. Know that although it was not what you may have prayed for, adversity will teach you some things. Those things had it not been for adversity you would never have learned. So, while for a moment times may be difficult know God sees and is aware of all things. That whatever you need to get through it He will give to you, and in the end the change you prayed for will be an everlasting one along with yourself as well- all because of something called.........

Gift of Love

I heard a line in a Christmas movie once where a woman told a man that the first gift ever given was a child- meaning Jesus being born. It was a great movie, and that line is one that I will never for
